The Search is on for #TheNextMrClean
After Finding Too Much “Dirt” on Kellan Lutz During His Audition to Be #TheNextMrClean, the Mr. Announces Open Casting Call and $20,000 Prize
CINCINNATI–September 8, 2016–(BUSINESS WIRE)–After nearly 60 years of being tough on dirt all around the house, Mr. Clean announced today that he will be taking a much-deserved extended vacation. However, before he can hop on the plane, he needs to find someone who can tackle the most seemingly impossible messes, on walls, baths and in the kitchen, while he’s away. Thus, with his legendary strength, bald head, white T-shirt and sparkling gold hoop earring, the Mr. is launching an open casting call to find #TheNextMrClean.
In August, a private audition was held with Kellan Lutz in Los Angeles, Calif. Although his performance was stellar (he’s physically strong, mentally tough, very witty and – just like the Mr. – grew up on a farm), after a closer look, Mr. Clean just found too much dirt on him and decided to open the audition process up to the consumer public instead. Check out Kellan Lutz’s audition tape here: https://youtu.be/WA0T5jKl_X0.
“I’ve portrayed some iconic characters in movies, and I was really excited to delve into what makes Mr. Clean tick,” said actor Kellan Lutz. “Along with his mental and physical prowess, I appreciate the fact that he is incredibly clean, hard-working, and has a great sense of humor and a killer sense of style. Whoever plays the next Mr. better have a spotless record!”
The next Mr. Clean will win $20,000, a large supply of Magic Erasers and an all-expenses paid trip to New York City, where he or she will be featured in a 2017 limited edition Mr. Clean calendar.
“Mr. Clean has been flexing his muscles against millions of household messes since 1959, tackling dirt, grease and grime. And, he just appeared in his all-new jingle TV spot that debuted in July,” said Kevin Wenzel, Associate Brand Director, NA Surface Care, P&G. “As you can imagine, Mr. Clean is in need of some serious R&R, so he’s launching an open casting call to find someone who can be just as clean, fearless, helpful and tough on dirt. So we’re reaching out to the public to help us fill Mr. Clean’s white shoes.”
There are several ways people can audition to be #TheNextMrClean. There will be two in-person open casting calls: one in New York at 404 NYC (404 10th Avenue) on September 7 from 2pm-6pm, and one in Los Angeles at Envision Studios LA (1756 22nd Street, Santa Monica) on September 14 from 10am-6pm. Hopefuls can also enter a video of themselves online at TheNextMrClean.com explaining why he or she should be the next Mr. Clean. The winner – male or female – will be chosen based on their overall creativity, usage of the Mr. Clean jingle in lyric or song, likeness in look and tone to Mr. Clean (regardless of gender), and enthusiasm of the submission.
